"NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY"

National Science Day is celebrated in India on 28 February each year to mark the discovery of the

Raman effect by Indian physicist Sir Chandrashekhara Venkata Raman on 28 February 1928.

The celebration also includes public speeches, radio-TV talk shows, science movies, science

exhibitions based on themes and concepts, watching the night sky, live projects, research

demonstration, debates, quiz competitions, lectures, science model exhibitions and many more

activities.

Electrical Engineering Society (EES) also took the initiative to celebrate this day in the department

on 28.02.2018.

Objective of the program: The objective of the program was to widely spread a message about the

significance of scientific applications in the daily life of the people as well as encourage the people

as well as popularize the Science and Technology.

Outcome of the program:

Students will be able to:

  • To discuss all the issues and implement new technologies for the development of the science.

  • To display all the activities, efforts and achievements in the field of science for welfare of human being.

  • To give an opportunity to the scientific minded citizens in the country

Summary of the program:

 

  • The program started with the welcome speech by Prof. S.Roy, Advisor, EES, who discussed all the issues and current new technologies for the development in the field of science.

  • The speech was continued by Prof. J. B. Basu, HOD, Department of Electrical Engineering, SIT, Siliguri who emphasized the importance of science and its application among the people.

  • The program continued with a documentary movie show on ‘Quantum Indians’ which is a National Award winning movie based on compelling and inspirational story of  three renowned Indian Scientist: Satyendra Nath Bose, CV Raman and Meghnad Saha.

  • Students were motivated and amazed to know so many unknown facts and stories of the achievements.

 

  • The program ended by vote of thanks by Prof. S. Roy.
