AKSHAY URJA DIWAS, 2016

     Akshay Urja diwas is celebrated with great enthusiasm and zeal in EE dept. initiated by EES members  to  spread awareness about renewable energy. Akshay Urja Diwas was celebrated on September 20,2016. Many exciting events were orchestrated.  The master of ceremony was Abhijeet Das who kept everyone enthralled throughout the day. The customary ceremony of lighting of the diyas by the dignitaries and the EES committee member marked the embarkation of the programme. A speech was delivered by Prof.Jayanta B.Basu , HOD of EE who addressed the importance of renewable energy. It was then followed by a speech from Abhijit das,an EES committee member. Barnamoy of 2nd year was next to enlighten us more about Renewable energy by carrying out a presentation.  The fun event kick-started with a debate competition adjudicated by Mr. Dibayan Nandi and Prof. Kaushik Chatterjee where both the teams spoke vehemently on the issue but Ankita and Anjum took away the first place.

Going further into the competition, all the students of 2nd and 3rd year actively participated in Slogan writing competition and logo competition  after which the poster competition was held whose theme was 'renewable energy'. After the winner was announced there was a lunch break of 45 minutes.

After the recess, everyone assembled back to the hall for rest of the events. Quiz was next to come. Susmita and Subho anchored this event. 7 teams comprising of 2 participants each were called upon the dais .The Quiz included three rounds- general knowledge,  technical and entertainment. Not only the participants but  also the audience were able to show case their knowledge in these rounds.  Next,  group song was sung by the 2nd year students to keep the audience engaged while the gifts and certificates were being processed. The winners and participants were awarded with gifts and certificates. A vote of thanks by Abhijit Das was an epitome of an eloquent peroration.

      Akshay Urja Diwas 2017 was celebrated on September 19,2017.It was bigger and better than ever, attended by a huge number of students. EES committee members  under the guidance of the faculty members left no stones unturned to make this event a successful one. A plethora of events were organized throughout the day to make sure there was never a dull moment. The programme commenced with the welcoming of the dignitaries and the traditional ceremony of the lighting of the diyas. Prof.Jayanta B.Basu, then gave a captivating speech about renewable energy .  Projoy Roy, the Vice-President of EES gave an insight about the statistics and  the need for the renewable energy.     A sublime presentation by Basudeb Mohanta enkindled us to judiciously electricity. the poster competition was next up. The given theme was ‘Renewable energy’. The delineation of each poster by the respective artists representing their houses was astounding. But, Subhajit Burman of Edison house bagged the First place with Riya Sarkar taking the silver for her House Ampere.  Thereafter, we had a debate competition, judged by Mr.Rajiv Chettri and Mr.Nirmal Banik and Mr.Subhashis Binda . All the participants spoke fanatically on the topic “Artificial intelligence is a threat to mankind” in which Barnomoy Chowdhury and Anjum Iqbal of 3rd year prevailed. Dumb Charades was the next event held where 7 teams of 4 members each participated. The participants had to enact various famous personalities like Newton, Michael Jackson or technical components such as quadcopter, MCB etc. It was a merrymaking event where the entire hall rolled on the floor laughing with the exuberance of the enactment the contestants. Then for the mega vent we had a talent hunt contest- 'Veni Vidi Vici'. Multifarious talents of the participants were unveiled leaving the audience flabbergasted. While Snigdha Chakroborty and Kishore Kumar won the first and second place respectively, all the participants were adulated. The winners of all the events received accolades, certificated and cash prizes.
